01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of El Chaltén, Don Guerra is a culinary gem that warmly invites both hikers and casual diners to indulge in authentic Argentine flavors. This restaurant excels in presenting a focused yet high-quality parrilla experience, where every dish reflects the rich tradition of Argentine grilling with a modern touch.

From the moment you step inside Don Guerra, the ambiance captivates you with its cozy, wood-paneled interior bathed in natural light streaming through large windows—an atmosphere that perfectly complements the rugged beauty of the surrounding Santa Cruz landscape. This intimate setting, paired with attentive and genuinely warm service, creates a welcoming home-away-from-home feeling that guests repeatedly praise.

The cuisine here is deeply satisfying: succulent grilled meats that are charred to perfection, paired with expertly curated sides. While the menu may be straightforward, it highlights quality over quantity. The standout offerings include the tender and flavorful lomo, which has garnered acclaim for its melt-in-the-mouth texture and robust taste. Additionally, the restaurant's take on Crepe Cannelloni—two delicately stuffed crepes bursting with savory goodness—is a delight not to miss. For those seeking variety beyond steak, fresh salads and creative desserts round out the experience beautifully.

As several guests have shared, the staff at Don Guerra elevate the dining experience with their genuine kindness and expert recommendations. Valentino, one of the servers, is often mentioned for making visitors feel immediately at ease, ensuring every meal is memorable. Their attentiveness and precise service add a refined touch to the rustic charm of the venue.

Whether you are winding down after a challenging day hiking Patagonia’s breathtaking trails or simply looking to savor a hearty Argentine meal, Don Guerra offers a flavorful escape marked by warmth, quality, and authenticity. It’s a place where the simple pleasure of expertly grilled meat meets genuine hospitality, leaving you eager to return time and again.

My mom and I had a great dinner here after a long day of hiking. The atmosphere was warm and cozy! Valentino was our server and instantly made us feel at home. He was friendly, kind and gave great food recommendations. We would love to visit again. Thanks Valentino for a wonderful experience!

Went there twice in a week! Very good parrilla, not a lot of choice but certainly high quality. We're a bit disappointed by the cow meat as it was close to rubber but the lomo was excellent! Great choices of alcohol. The atmosphere and decoration is amazing, as the wood-made room with some light thanks to the huge windows. Waiters were terrific : attentive and precise. Deserts were good too!

In my opinion this is the best restaurant in El Chalten - we loved it more than other also good but hyped restaurants. Since we stayed for 7 nights we had the chance to compare a lot. They offered a fantastic service and the taste of the food was great! We highly recommend the ‚Crepe / Cannelloni (the cannelloni are 2 stuffed crepe which taste incredible) Price value is also fantastic here. We loved it

We actually meant to visit another cervezaria but misread the sign and had the best dining experience. Starting off the drinks were great. My wife's really enjoyed her salad but the steak I ordered was to die for! Such a happy accident!

A great, spacious restaurant in El Chalten with more open hours than a lot of other spots. The staff was friendly and we went back a second time during our stay because we enjoyed the food options and variety!

Stopped here today for the first time and was seated promptly. Our waitress was top notch and I greatly enjoyed the complimentary bread, Aperol spritz, lamb ravioli and music.
